When women see you with a friend group, they’ll think, “okay, he must be cool, because all these people like him.” They’ll also make you happier, which will help, too — upbeat people are far more attractive. But they don’t, to the extent that Jordan Peterson’s basic proclamations seem like lightning bolts of truth to many adolescent dudes. There are women who identify as Incels as well, called “Fem-cels”, but they’re rare. An interesting thing about female Incels is they’re more likely to blame themselves for their celibacy, and don’t seem to habour the same aggression as most male Incels . In the majority of cases, female Inceldom does not create misandry in the same way that male Inceldom creates misogyny, but both harbour misogyny by blaming women for their shortcomings. Also, most male Incels don’t believe female Incels can exist, because in core Incel ideology, women can get sex whenever they want just by being a woman. Because incels and femcels have turned to blaming the other gender for all of their problems rather than taking personal responsibilty for their inability to have healthy relationships with the opposite sex.

The idea of celibacy as resistance is not new – but it harks back to an older tradition, from feminism’s second wave.
Of course, these examples are also just plain misogyny as well as signs of Inceldom; however, acts like this can later escalate into extreme acts like stalking and harassment. But I do hope he grows out of this and finds support, because one would have to feel a lot of turmoil to vent in their profile like this. As well as that, I hope he educates himself, because while this profile is a desperate attempt to get attention from women, it’s likely having the opposite effect. Often Incels start as lonely men who find themselves in the wrong crowd, because Incels draw each other in.
Their self-proclaimed ugliness or low IQ aren’t the problems. Incels are so embroiled in their own victimization, that they blindly hate and push away their objects of desire while arguing that they deserve love, sex, and affection. I have enough reason to believe that #DateAnIncel was a hoax or a joke all along, but ultimately, what’s more interesting is the curtain separating incels from reality. Incels say they hate women, and there’s no denying the overtly dangerous sexism intertwined in their definition, but when I tried to understand what incels want from women, I realized that their violence is ultimately rooted in fear.
